Inuka Rehabilitation Hospital

Prosthesis & Orthotic/ Assistive devices

Under this unit, the hospital provides services aimed at;

  • providing artificial device that replaces a missing body part that may have been lost from trauma or disease. Its intent is to minimize disability that arises from the missing body part.
  • adding a device to the body to stabilize or immobilize a body part, prevent deformity, protect against injury, or assist with function.
  • increasing someone’s ability to carry out activities of daily living and improve independence.

In our orthopaedic workshop skilled professionals produce prostheses and orthoses working in close cooperation with occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Moreover, we assemble, repair and adapt wheelchairs and crutches to the needs of our patients.

The carpentry section of the workshop produces assistive devices for daily living such as: postural chairs, standing frames, toilet chairs and other aids tailored to the patient.
